Delicious Memories PRELAUNCH

YOU FOUND ME AT DELICIOUS MEMORIES.COM.

This is the first DM BLOG post and I am very excited that you have joined in the fun. I sincerely hope that you will visit this site often and share your delicious memories. The site has been in process for about a year, and I hoped to launch by Christmas, 2019. However, my mother, who is the guiding spirit of this site passed away in June, and her death temporarily halted my progress. We’re all sad she left us unexpectedly. We will push on knowing that Della is truly with us in spirit.

So here we are…Christmas, 2019. January, 2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of Ida Liva, along with her brother, Alfonso, landing at Ellis Island for their new life in America. Later after their arrival, Giovanni Mattei (Ida’s husband) and Pellegrino and Mary Amerisa Mattei (husband and wife), all immigrating from Gromingnana, Italy, arriving in various months in 1920. Ida and Giovanni married in 1922 and started the Cincinnati Mattei Family. Pellegrino and Mary married in 1921 starting the Louisville Matteis. As the years progress, I will detail in my weekly BLOG when and where these adventurous family members found their footing in their adopted country. I’ll also share stories about their extended family in their respective cities and how their descendants would branch out to every corner of America and beyond. This blog will mix the history of our family with our most cherished traditions, menus and recipes. We will extend a warm invitation to our extended family and friends to share their family history, traditions and delicious memories.

This site continues to be UNDER CONSTRUCTION but please enjoy what is available, especially the cookie recipes from Della’s Christmas Delights https://deliciousmemories.com/dellas-christmas-treats/. Thanks to Mike and Theresa Mattei who gathered this wonderful selection of Della & Inno’s favorite holiday treats. The sauce and pasta recipe sections are complete so you’ll have a selection of recipes to prepare for this season. Now that you know where to find me, please stop in to read the DM WEEKLY BLOG and PLEASE participate. Send pictures of your family celebrations. Also send recipes and memories shared throughout your life. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all who have come to this site. May we enjoy many years of sharing.
